hellenkellerHelen Keller, left deaf and blind by a sudden illness when very young, became more and more angry and defiant as she grew up. Her distraught parents sent for a teacher from the Perkins Institute for the Blind to live in the house and educate Helen. At first resistant to this stranger, Teacher’s gentle persistence leads Helen into the discovery of the world around her through her senses and intelligence, and love.  With a style inspired by the work of John Singer Sargent, Ransome paints this story with brilliant color and tender sentiment.
