I DON’T WANT A POSH DOG by Emma Dodd

posh-dogA little girl knows just what kind of dog she DOESN”T want: “I don’t want a snooty dog/ A fancy, attitudey dog.”  And “I don’t want a speedy dog/A greedy, pleady, needy dog.”

Several rhymed pages later she declares, “I just want a silly dog/A sweet willy-nilly dog.”

Although children yearning for any kind of a dog will likely sympathize with this girl, there’s not a lot of substance to either the rhymes or the simple, cartooney drawings.
