RUMBLEWICK’S DIARY #1: MY UNWILLING WITCH GOES TO BALLET SCHOOL by Hiawyn Oram

rumblewicks-1Hagatha Agatha, or HA for short, does not want to be a witch. Her familiar, a cat named Rumblewick (RB for short), is contractually mandated to make sure she acts like a witch. RB keeps diaries of all of HA’s adventures, complete with a handwriting-like font and black sketchy illustrations. In this one, HA decides she wants to become a ballerina, and RB must prevent her from getting in trouble for it. Of course, everything is resolved happily in the end. It’s not a terrible book, but the cat-diary concept was done better in Anne Fine’s Diary of a Killer Cat. This is the first book in a series originally published in Great Britain.
