BARON VON BADDIE AND THE ICE RAY INCIDENT by George McClements

baronEvil genius Baron von Baddie’s plans are constantly thwarted by Captain Kapow who sends him to jail.  When Baron von Baddie inadvertently freezes Captain Kapow, he realizes he could do anything he wants, and proceeds to change the days of the week, eat lots of doughnuts, etc.  After a couple of weeks, Baron von Baddie thinks “what was the point of creating chaos if no one was trying to stop you?”  So he defrosts Captain Kapow and then ends up in jail, “his home away from home” where he decides not to break out…”for a whole three hours”.

Paper collages depict a tiny bad guy in sunglasses and lab coat and a large, bright and muscular superhero.

Mildly amusing, but this bland tiny villain is hardly wreaking havoc by eating doughnuts and building a robot.  There’s no tension or excitement in Baddie and Kapow’s arch rivalry.  Even their names are boring.
